Christ – A prophet without honor?
Mark 6:1-6 After returning to the western shore of the sea of Galilee, Jesus visits his hometown — Nazareth. On the Sabbath He took his turn to speak from the scriptures. The people were astonished at His teaching. They wondered where He learned these things and were amazed at his wisdom and His miraculous works. They asked: “Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary…” Verse 3 says that they were offended at him. Jesus “marveled at their unbelief” (Mark 6:6). He knew, however, that such was often the case. He said: “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country” (Mark 6:4). Let us be careful that we do not reject the truth and miss salvation because of our own misguided conclusions. Prejudice is pride in our own assumptions.
