Continued … in Prayer

Continued … in Prayer
After the death of Jesus, the apostles went back to Galilee and, among other things, we read they returned to fishing.  We do not know what they were thinking but it seems they were returning to their former life and that their hope in Jesus was  damaged.
When Jesus left them the next time, it was to ascend to heaven, returning to the Father.  Jesus told them to wait in Jerusalem and that, when they had received power by the Holy Spirit, they would begin preaching.  You can read in Acts chapter one that they did return to Jerusalem.  How did they spend their time?  “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication…” (Acts 1:14).
What a difference the resurrection made.  There can be no hope or future in a deceased Jesus.  One might as well go fishing.  However, in a resurrected Jesus, there is clearly power and promise pointing to a great future.  When Jesus ascended, they went back to Jerusalem and “continued with one accord in prayer…”
Faith in a resurrected Lord changes everything.  Believe in Jesus.  Spend more time in prayer.  Let me know if you want some help growing in faith and prayer.
