Do you have “ears to hear?”

Do you have “ears to hear?”
Jesus often called people to pay attention.  It is hard to imagine that people did not pay attention to Jesus.  He was so very compelling.  Yet, as we read the gospels and see people react to Jesus, it is clear that many dismissed him and his teaching.
Jesus was concerned that even those who attempted to follow him would not fully receive his teaching.  In each of the seven letters to the churches of Asia in Revelation two and three, Jesus repeated:  “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”  Frequently , Jesus warned those seeking him:  He who has ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 11:15).
First, I need to pay attention to Jesus’ words.  Second, I need to pay attention to the spiritual implication of his teaching.  Third, I need to consider honestly the application of his teaching in my life.  Finally, I need to humbly accept and submit to the message of Jesus.  That is what it means to hear him.  So, you should be able to answer the question:  Do I have ears to hear?
