| God … Has In These Last Days Spoken |
|
We read in the book of Hebrews: “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…” (Hebrews 1:1-2)
We can know a couple of things from this text that many people have missed. Consider these two verses for now, but read the entire chapter later.
1) The writer of Hebrews lived in the last days. Now, almost 2,000 years later, we also live in the last days because time has continued and not yet come to its conclusion. The last days does not refer to the final few days, weeks of months of existence. Last days must, therefore, refer to the final era, period or age.
2) During this final age of time, God speaks to us through His Son. That means there are no new prophets, no new messages, no new messiah. There is only one gospel given for all the world.
Once God sent His Son, no-one will take His place or upgrade His Word.
