How can a person know they are right with God?

Our emotions are so variable and our feelings ever changing. Confidence and joy can soar one day and plummet the next. Strong emotional feelings about our relationship with God are not reliable.  I cannot know determine my relationship with God by how I feel.

The Bible offers a more objective standard by which we can know our standing with God.  God’s word gives us a steady, unchangeable testimony that can weather the turmoil of this world and our ever-changing emotions and feelings about it.

The Bible says: “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments”
1 John 2:3.  That is a strong, deliberate statement that gives assurance.  You will find similar statements throughout 1 John.  John writes to give assurance and boldness to Christians.  Our life in the Lord should be one of confidence.  John describes several things we “know” that provide “boldness.” 

Do not have confidence in how you feel.  Be confident because of what you know and believe from God’s revelation.
