Is the World Getting Darker?

Our lives are so short and our experience so limited that we are not in a good position to answer the question.  In my life and experience it seems to me that sin has grown in boldness and prevalence.  It seems to me that things are getting worse.  Faith is weak and compromised.  Unbelief is growing.  Is that true all over the world?  Is that an accurate assessment of all human history.  I am not so sure about that.

The Bible describes times and places where wickedness, evil and the resulting circumstances were worse than they had ever been or ever would be!  Is that a figure of speech or is it literally true?  It does not really matter because whenever we live and wherever we live God calls for faithful, humble service and God promises to bless and deliver His people.

I will leave you with one thought:  Jesus said:  “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden … Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”  (Matthew 5:14-16).  Remember, the darker the world, the brighter your light will be.  Your example of righteousness is most clearly seen in a world of darkness.  If this world is getting darker, your lights will be more readily seen by those who are seeking new life.  Shine.  Shine.
