We do not live without consequence.

We do not live without consequence.
Science has taught us that “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”  I am convinced that is true in our physical world.  It reminds me of the equally certain spiritual truth of consequences.  I am, and will be, held accountable for my actions in this life.
Most of the time my behavior delivers immediate and clear results, both good and bad, depending on my choices and my conduct.  I might ignore or deny them, but I cannot make them go away.  Sometimes the results of my behavior are delayed.  It does not always appear that my behavior is of any consequence.  Don’t believe it!  Results may be delayed or out of  present vision.
So far I am speaking about earthly consequences for my day to day choices.  God warns us that there will be a reckoning when my life here is over.  He reminds me that I will face what I have done:
Note the following sample texts:
  •  2 Corinthians 5:10 — For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
  •  Romans 14:12 — So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
  •  Matthew 12:36-37 — I tell you, on the day of judgment, people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
  •  1 Corinthians 4:5 — Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.
  •  Revelation 20:12 — And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
More scriptures about our judgment are certainly available.  Do you know what is even more available?  Scriptures calling all people to faith, repentance and baptism for salvation by the grace of God through the blood of Christ.
You can be saved from your sins.  With the forgiveness of sins you start a new life!  Give me a call if you would like to read more about this forgiveness and salvation in Christ.
