Trust in the Lord with all your heart…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.  (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Look thoughtfully at this passage.  Trusting in the Lord with all your heart does not mean that you depend on God to do what you expect Him to do.  Trusting in the Lord means  you do not know how things will or should turn out.  Knowing the outcome or anticipating what should happen is leaning on our own understanding.  We cannot do that!

Trusting in the Lord is not believing the Lord will take care of us no matter what we do.  We read in verse six that we acknowledge Him in all we do.  We yield to Him and allow Him to guide us in our behavior.  That is trusting in the Lord.
